Dining pick of the week: Leone Café

PICK OF THE WEEK:

LEONE CAFÉ

Tivoli Village, 400 S. Rampart Blvd., 684-5853

This is coffee weather, when a hot cup is needed to keep the energy going in order to complete your holiday shopping. At Leone Café, there is a great cup of coffee waiting for you along with specialty drinks (latte especiale, cappuccino carmello, chocolate espressinale, Italian steamer classico, tea latte), fruit smoothies and fruit juices. Leone Café also has a sophisticated breakfast and lunch menu. The Italian breakfast is a veggie, cheese and potato frittata with Caprese or fruit salad. It is served with a basket of bread, spreads, cheese, Kalamata olives and juice. The Mediterranean salad is a spinach and feta frittata with chopped or fruit salad. The three-egg, three-ingredient Leone omelet comes with hash browns, bread basket and juice. Hot panini sandwiches are made on ciabbata and include roast beef with horseradish sauce, grilled cheese (cheddar and Gouda) and pimento tuna melt. Several cold sandwiches are cream cheese and lox, goat cheese with alfalfa sprouts, pimento chicken and roast turkey and avocado. Among the gluten-free salads are Greek, house chopped, poached dill salmon, champagne, chicken and berry, and fruit salad. Omelets and frittatas start at $8 and sandwiches at $8.50. Leone Café is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. -- Jack Bulavsky
