Nittaya Parawong is the owner and chef of this intimate, lovely Thai restaurant. But her secret kitchen is a secret no more. That’s because her family recipes are openly discussed by all who dine with Nittaya. Specialties include Crying Tiger Steak with Thai hot sauce, garlic-basil lamb chop, Southern Thai cornish game hen, Northern Thai curry noodles, spicy catfish, and Seafood Madness with mussels, shrimp, scallops, clams and chili oil. Vegetarian dishes are eggplant with basil, tofu pad Thai, tofu massaman curry (potatoes, onions, peanuts) and Rainforest fried rice with eggs, broccoli, cabbage, carrots and mushrooms. There are curry entrees, soups (lemongrass, coconut) and salads such as citrus steak, papaya, chicken ginger and calamari lemongrass. Rice dishes (with or without egg) include garlic rice, Bangkok fried, crabmeat fried, and Emerald fried with chicken, peppers, basil and green curry. The tapas menu has lettuce wraps, Siamese egg rolls, five spice barbecue ribs, Volcano shrimp, vegetable pot stickers, curry puffs, fried tofu, mango shrimp wrapped in bacon, cilantro steak skewers, chili-lime squid and the house favorite: tempura-style spinach salad. Secret Kitchen entrees begin at $16, and the tapas menu starts at $7. Nittaya’s is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 4 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
