Dining Pick of the Week: Philly Steak Express
October 11, 2013 - 10:56 am
Philly Steak Express
6446 N. Durango Drive at West Centennial Parkway and West Deer Springs Way; 702-816-3000
Philly Steak Express has a small menu because all it does makes are Philly steaks, gyros and kabobs. Everything is fresh and tasty. The beef or chicken Philly has mushrooms, onions and cheese with fries or salad. It can also be prepared as a wrap. A distant cousin to the Philly steak is the gyro, a Greek dish of meat that has been roasted on a vertical spit. It is wrapped in pita bread with lettuce, tomato, onion and tzatziki sauce (strained yogurt mixed with cucumbers, garlic, salt, olive oil). Other entrees are chicken kabob, chicken salad, garden salad and specials including chicken or beef wrap. The Philly sandwich starts at $5.99, and salads begin at $3.99. Philly Steak Express is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
