Tacos and burritos can be eaten at any time of the day, whether as a sit-down meal or on the go. Tacos el Tenampa serves them both ways, and even though this small restaurant is inside North Rancho Arco AM/PM — a service station — don’t let that deter you. When it’s time to feed your car and yourself, this is a good one-stop shop. There is an eight-seat counter adjacent to the open counter where you can order from the posted menu. It’s quick and easy and filling. There are 16 specials such as super nachos, tostada with beans, huevos rancheros and rolled tacos. Popular burritos are bean and cheese, machacha (shredded beef), chorizo, beef, chicken, California, carnitas, barbacoa (sheep) and adobada (pork marinated in spicy chili sauce). Many of the same items can be made as tortas or sandwiches. Among the sides are taco salad, quesadilla, chile relleno, menudo and chimichanga. Consider feeding yourself and your car on taco Tuesday or taco Friday when tacos are on sale. Tacos start at $1.50. Specials begin at $4.95. Tacos el Tenampa is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
