Drunken bicyclist wrestles cop in Taco Bell drive-thru, is arrested

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A 33-year-old central intoxicated Florida man wanted Taco Bell, but employees wouldn’t serve him because he was on a bicycle in the drive-through lane.

They called New Smyrna Beach police when Gabriel Harris refused to leave after placing an order at the drive-through window as the restaurant was closing just after 3 a.m. on Sunday.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports police found Harris still sitting on the bicycle at the speaker. As officers asked him to leave, they spotted a Swiss Army knife on his belt loop. An officer reached for the knife, but Harris grabbed his wrist. The officer wrestled Harris to the ground and arrested him.

Harris now faces a charge of resisting arrest with violence. It’s not known whether he’s hired a lawyer.
