Father’s Day car show draws 150 entries
July 3, 2009 - 9:00 pm
The third annual Father's Day car show at Findlay Chevrolet was just what a car enthusiast could want -- a massive display of more than 150 classic cars of all years, makes and models.
Add in a glorious day combined with free food and refreshments and it's easy to see why the event was a success.
It was a day for kicking back and enjoying classic vehicles along with good music and about $3,000 given to participants in a car show that had cars strung from the entrance of the dealership north to the Frontage Road along the Las Vegas Beltway.
Marketing Director Doug Fleming said the gathering is one of two presented by the dealership each year in conjunction with the Las Vegas Cruisin' Association.
Justin Findlay, a fifth-generation Nevadan, said the company has always been known for helping the community. In particular, he lauded Fleming for his work on the event.
"The work that goes into putting on a car show is immense," said Findlay. "Doug not only attracted a big field of cars and a great crowd, but also spent countless hours putting this together. It's really nice when an event comes together like this one did.
"There is so much to put together for a car show to be successful," Findlay said. "This one was excellent and it was a great marketing tool for the dealership, especially since the new 2010 Camaro was such a hit with all of the enthusiasts."
Art Kam, executive director of the Las Vegas Cruisin' Association, who has been involved with hundreds of car shows for more than 30 years, agreed with Findlay: "The show went really well. We had an awesome cruise Friday night and Saturday was a great car show for all makes and models. The Findlay people extend the courtesy of letting us use the parking lot and the parking garage which is in the shade. They are very hospitable and provide food and trophies. All the car people love coming to Findlay Chevrolet for car shows.
"They provide us with a great place to hide out while also staging an excellent awards presentation with award plaques and cash."
Findlay Chevrolet and the Las Vegas Cruisin' Association will hold another car show on Thanksgiving weekend. Further information can be found at www.LasVegasCarShows.com or by calling 643-0000; and at www.FindlayChevy.com or by calling 992-4000.
