Giant ice ball falls from sky, through roof of home

A large chunk of ice fell from the sky into the home of a Washington state family.

Dwaine Morrison said his daughter heard a loud crash and found the block of ice in her parents’ closet on Tuesday afternoon.

“It doesn’t happen everyday,” Dwaine Morrison told KIMA. “It’s just crazy to think about.”

The ice block was about 1-foot by 1-foot and caused significant damage to the roof and ceiling of the home.

“It’s not the blue ice,” Morrison said. “So, that’s a good thing.”

Police believe the ice fell from a plane passing overhead and are working with Yakima Airport to get more information.
