CITY TO ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

Applications for candidates filing for the 2015 City of Henderson Municipal Elections are set to be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 27-29 and Feb. 2-5 at the Henderson City Hall, 240 S. Water St.

Offices up for election include municipal court judge for Department II and councilman for Wards I, II and IV. The term of office for councilman is four years, and the term of office for municipal court judge is six years.

BLOOD DRIVE SCHEDULED FOR JAN. 25

United Blood Services plans a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Galleria at Sunset, 1300 W. Sunset Road. Appointments are required. For more information, visit tinyurl.com/qhsgc8r.

LIBRARY TO TEACH SOCIAL NETWORKING CLASS

A social networking class is planned at noon Jan. 27 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

The class is set to cover creating a profile, finding friends, sending messages and joining networks.

Participants must have an active email address and know basic computer functions. Registration is required.

HENDERSON VIEW REPORTER TO MEET WITH RESIDENTS JAN. 28

Henderson View readers are invited to meet reporter Caitlyn Belcher from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at Starbucks, 8164 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

AARP TO OFFER FREE TAX HELP

AARP plans to offer free tax help starting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays from Feb. 4 through April 10 at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway. Appointments must be made in-person from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 23, 28 and 30.

Individuals must bring identification and any W-2, Social Security, investment or old tax forms.

The city of Henderson plans its next City Council meeting at 6 p.m. Feb. 3 and its next Planning Commission meeting at 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at Henderson City Hall, 240 S. Water St.
