HomeAid Southern Nevada Chapter gets new director

The Southern Nevada Home Builders Association has named nonprofit professional Caitlin Shea as executive director of the recently resurrected Southern Nevada chapter of HomeAid, a national nonprofit provider of housing for the homeless for more than 20 years.
Previously, Shea was the development manager with the Crohn’s &Colitis Foundation of America in Las Vegas, and the local business development coordinator at the American Heart Association.
She will oversee and coordinate the activities and projects of the local HomeAid chapter, which was taken over by the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association last year. Previously, HomeAid had a stand-alone chapter in Las Vegas until it ceased operations during the housing and economic downturn.
“We are very pleased to have Caitlin come on board to spearhead our efforts to give back to the community by doing what we do best: build housing,” said Nat Hodgson, executive director of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association.
Before going dormant in 2013, HomeAid Southern Nevada operated in the Las Vegas area for eight years, building nearly 100,000 square feet of living space valued at more than $1.4 million for charities such as St. Jude’s Ranch for Children and Lutheran Social Services of Nevada. The previous executive director, Kathleen Dye, is a consultant to the homebuilders group on the local chapter.
HomeAid America, with 15 chapters in 10 states, has sheltered nearly 170,000 people in more than 325 housing projects nationwide.
Founded in 1953 by 12 local homebuilders and incorporated in Nevada in 1954, the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association ranks as the oldest and largest local trade organization representing the residential construction industry in Nevada. Its members work in all facets of the homebuilding industry.
