How Nevada Democrats can caucus on the Strip

Democrats who work on or near the Strip will be able to caucus on Feb. 20 without traveling to their home precinct.

The Nevada State Democratic Party has at-large precincts set up at Strip locations so shift workers can participate in the caucus, voicing their picks for who should get the Democratic nomination for president.

Democratic officials released the at-large precinct locations on Friday. They are: New York-New York, Caesars Palace, the Rio; Paris Las Vegas, Harrah's, and Wynn Resort.

To participate, workers need to be employed within a 2.5-mile radius of the precinct location. They must either be on their shift or their shift must be within an hour of the caucus event, which is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. and end about 12:30 p.m.

The at-large precincts are intended to boost participation among those with shifts that would prevent them from caucusing in their home precinct.

Employees should request the break in their shift to participate from their employer. The deadline to request the time varies among employers, and some companies require up to 10 days notice.
