Kiwanis Club to host fundraising auto tour

Kiwanis Club will hold a benefit tour of Jim Rogers’ Sunbelt Auto Collection Museum from 6-9 p.m. March 8. Admission is $25. Only 100 tickets are available. All proceeds from ticket sales and a silent auction and raffle prizes will raise money for student scholarships.

The museum is at 1420 E. Gragson Ave., one block north of East Washington Avenue, off North Bruce Street.

These vehicles are among the best collections of U.S.-made restored autos in the United States, including Cadillacs, Chryslers, Dodges, Lincolns, Fords, Chevys and Buicks. Rogers also has completed a one-of-a-kind collection of 1953 all-American convertibles in mint condition.

Other featured cars are select foreign sports cars, Model-Ts and classic Corvettes.

The Sunbelt Auto Collection is not open to the general public and viewing is available only through special showings.

Mike Pratt, operations manager for the Auto Collection Museum, has worked with Rogers for more than 10 years at the museum and heads all restoration projects.

Restoration bays at the facility specialize in body and painting, upholstery, chrome refinishing, parts manufacturing, engine technology and rebuilding, drive-train refabrication.
