Las Vegas ranked nation’s 6th most patriotic city

Barbeque, pool parties, apple pie and all things red, white and blue will take over the nation on Friday as we celebrate our Independence Day.

Las Vegas is certainly no stranger to the holiday, and in fact, we’re one of the most patriotic cities, according to MyLife.

The site ranked major U.S. cities based on percent of population in the armed forces, total amount spent on veterans, popularity of fireworks in July and amount of community and social service workers.

Like New Years Eve, folks flock to town from all over to witness the fireworks display on the Strip. We hold multiple parades; restaurants and bars host all sorts of patriotic deals; and the availability of fireworks results in one very loud, very fun night.

The rest of the list is dominated by Texan cities, with a few from California as well:

  1. San Diego, CA
  2. San Antonio, TX
  3. Austin, TX
  4. Fort Worth, TX
  5. Oklahoma City, OK
  6. Las Vegas
  7. Long Beach, CA
  8. El Paso, TX
  9. Colorado Springs, CO
  10. Houston, TX

This year in Las Vegas, fireworks will be coming from Caesars Palace, the Linq, Mandalay Bay, a host of other Strip casinos and some Station Casinos.
