A 32-year-old Brooklyn, NY., man paid a fortune to a Manhattan fortune teller over nearly two years to make a woman love him.
In summer 2013, the man, who was not named in court documents, sought help of the 26-year-old fortuneteller, Priscilla Kelly Delmaro. He had met a woman in Arizona named Michelle whom he loved, but she didn’t love him.
On his first visit, he paid Delmaro $2,500 and on his second $9,000, according to The New York Times.
In the following months, he spent thousands of dollars, including $40,064 for a diamond Tiffany’s ring, which she said he would use as an engagement ring one day.
The man spent $40,000 on a fake funeral ritual, as well as $30,000 on a Rolex watch. When told a “bridge of gold” could trap the spirit, he gave her another $80,000.
February of 2014, the man found out Michelle had died, potentially of a drug overdose.
But that didn’t stop payments, this time going toward “reincarnation” of Michelle. By year’s end, the payments totaled more than $700,000.
Delmaro was arrested on May 26 and remains in jail facing charges of grand larceny.
