West Haven, CT — Police in West Haven said they arrested a man for trying to steal a car at a convenience store.
Troy Matthews, 25, was charged after a brief foot chase.
Police said they responded to the Sam’s Food Mart on Campbell Avenue for a report of a vehicle being stolen.
They said Matthews entered the store, exited and got into a customer’s car that was in the parking lot.
However, the suspect could not drive a stick shift, so he fled.
Police said they caught up with him at another parking lot on Campbell Avenue, where he ran. He was captured a short time later.
Matthews was charged with larceny and interfering with police.
Police said they had arrested him just weeks earlier for trying to steal a car.
