Man’s body found in Conn. driveway

Police are investigating a possible homicide after a body was found in a the driveway of a home in Waterbury, Connecticut, on Thursday morning.

A body was located on Mitchell Avenue near Willow Street around 7:45 a.m., according to police.

A cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy will be performed on the body on Friday. The victim’s name is not being released by police until notification of his family.

Gabriel Ferreria said it was “quiet” when woke up at 8 a.m. to do some yard work until a body was found in his neighbor’s yard, WFSB reported.

“That’s a shock. I didn’t hear any gunshot or anything like that, so I’m very surprised,” Ferreria said.

One tenant in the area said the man appeared to be beaten, and says a kennel was found near his body.

For the rest of New Year’s Day, police combed through several locations, and looked in, under and around trash cans. While canvassing the rest of the neighborhood for potential clues, neighbors said it’s a mystery because celebrations on Wednesday night were subdued.

“It’s been a nice and clean neighborhood, so I’m kinda shocked right now,” Ferreria said.

Mitchell Avenue was closed until just before 5 p.m. while detectives and police forensics unit were on the scene.
