Original Hidden Cash will finally hit Las Vegas

Las Vegas has already had a taste of the Hidden Cash phenomenon, when an anonymous person started hiding envelopes of money across the city last week. But the stakes have just been raised: The original Hidden Cash account announced on Tuesday that it will come to Las Vegas this weekend.

A Twitter user started a social media frenzy at the end of May by hiding cash in locations throughout San Francisco and tweeting clues about where to find it. The anonymous donor was outed over the weekend: It’s Jason Buzi, a Palo Alto, Calif., real estate investor.

Buzi hasn’t made any indication he’s planning on slowing down since being outed, and actually appears to be picking up steam. He tweeted on Tuesday that he would expand to New York City, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas and Mexico City this weekend. He also plans to hit Europe by the beginning of July.

Buzi has done cash drops in Southern California in addition to those in San Francisco, each time asking that those who find the cash tweet a photo of themselves with their prize. He said he hopes those who find it will pay it forward.

Buzi has seen at least one local copycat: An anonymous donor who’s taken to hiding envelopes with $40 around the Las Vegas, following the same format as the original.

“I’m not rich,” the person told the RJ last week. “Just paying forward what I can.”

Watch for clues this weekend here.
