Police shut down kids’ illegal lemonade stand

Two young girls selling snacks and lemonade to raise money for a Father’s Day gift had their stand shut down after Texas police said they needed a permit.

Andria and Zoey Green, ages 6 and 7, needed $105 to take their father to Splash Kingdom.

“We had kettle corn and lemonade. The lemonade was for 50 cents and the kettle corn was $1, but if you got both it was only for $1,” Zoey Green said.

In their first hour open, KLTV reported, they made $25. When Overton police arrived, their mother was told the girls needed a permit.

By Texas law, specifically House Bill 970, the girls can’t sell lemonade without an inspection.

The Greens told KLTV they plan to reopen the stand for donations on Saturday.
