Providence to hold free fireworks show

The northwest Las Vegas sky will light up for Independence Day with a free fireworks show at the Providence master-planned community. The second Stars, Stripes & Sparks event is slated for Thursday at the community’s Knickerbocker Park.

The event starts at 6 p.m. with fireworks by Pyrotecnico around 9:15 p.m.

“Again, we’re bringing innovation and creativity for the Providence Stars, Stripes & Sparks fireworks show, and it will be even more exciting than last year,” said Phillip Stewart of Pyrotecnico, the show’s producer. “This new one is full scale and completely synchronized with high-quality shells for a dazzling display. We call it ‘painting the sky.’ The accompanying music covers all genres, and was chosen for families and friends alike to enjoy, plus patriotic favorites that bind us all together as Americans.”

Knickerbocker Park is at 10695 Dorrell Lane, north of the Las Vegas Beltway and Hualapai Way exit.

The event also will have contests for all ages, food vendors, park activities and entertainment by the local Tony Marques Band.

Picnic baskets, chairs, coolers and well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome, but no alcohol, glass or outside fireworks, including sparklers, are permitted.

Red, white and blue glow-in-the-dark necklaces will be sold to raise funds for Bozarth Elementary School. Also, nonprofit Spread the Word Nevada will be collecting new and gently used books.
