Providence to host Ice Cream Sunday
September 24, 2010 - 11:00 pm
"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" That familiar chant will be heard frequently during the Eighth Annual Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday, Sept. 26, when families and friends gather to enjoy ice cream and fun outdoor activities. Scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the free event will be held, for the first time at The Promenade linear park inside the Providence master planned community in northwestern Las Vegas.
"Sunny 106.5 is excited to hold Ice Cream Sunday at Providence this year," said Tom Chase, program director for Sunny 106.5-FM radio. "This marks the eighth year that Sunny 106.5 has hosted this popular community event that includes children's entertainment, jump houses, interactive games and all the Meadow Gold ice cream kids can handle. We are eager to take this event to a new Las Vegas neighborhood and share the family fun with even more people this year."
Complimentary ice cream treats will be provided by Meadow Gold. Additionally, families will enjoy bounce houses, games, face-painting, balloon animals, juggling and entertainment by the characters from Amazing Clowns. On-site demonstrations will be conducted by participating vendors, including Metro PCS, Las Vegas Movie Insiders, Century Link, Las Vegas Party Rentals, Vitamin Water, Findlay Honda and King Putt. Sunny 106.5 will provide music throughout the day with station favorites Melanie and Michael as emcees.
The Ice Cream Sunday setting is The Promenade linear park, which features wide tree-lined boulevards with mature trees, formally planted landscapes, children's play area and shaded seating areas.
"The Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday is such a fun event and the perfect type of activity to be held at Providence with our small town America theme," said Deonna Stocker, manager of Information Center Operations for Providence, adding the information center resembles an old-fashioned soda shop with wood siding and a wraparound porch. "Our close-knit family of residents and builders are looking forward to it and hosting the public."
Several Providence homebuilders also will participate at Ice Cream Sunday. They'll have various activities, giveaways and information about their neighborhoods and sales promotions.
For example, R/S Development's Liberty Hill is offering special incentives for closing costs and option packages for buyers.
It is one of the Providence neighborhoods that has a community pool and park for its residents.
Ryland Homes' Community Partnership Program gives community heroes an additional 1 percent off the base price of a new Ryland home, and Warmington's We've Got a Plan campaign showcases its new floor plans and highlights how it's helping new buyers purchase a new home, given low interest rates, more affordable payments and an onsite Wells Fargo Home Mortgage component.
Providence builders include Beazer Homes, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Richmond American Homes, R/S Development, Ryland Homes, Warmington and Woodside Homes.
Providence consistently has ranked among the best-selling master-planned communities in the United States by RCLCO, a leading independent real estate advisory firm.
When completed, Providence will have an estimated 7,500 homes, two community parks, one linear park and miles of trails systems. An additional elementary school and one middle school will complement the existing area elementary school and high schools.
The Providence main entrance and information center are located at 7051 N. Hualapai Way (Interstate-215 North, the Las Vegas Beltway, and Hualapai). To get to The Promenade, pass Hualapai and turn left on Elkhorn Road. For more information on Ice Cream Sunday or to download an event location map, visit ksne.com.
