Approaching an election that could see him depart the national stage, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has finally achieved the ultimate tribute to his lofty status in American politics: A good skewering on “Saturday Night Live.” The SNL cast spent what seemed like 30 minutes sending up the recent Reid rally in Las Vegas featuring President Obama. It was almost as painful to watch as the recent Reid-Sharron Angle debate.
At one point, Reid asked about the president’s birth certificate.
That’s right, a birther joke. Problem was, it wasn’t funny.
Paul Brittain played Reid and could have passed for a family member. Fred Armisen played the role of the president.
Their impressions were excellent, but they made me wonder who writes their material.
Come to think of it, I’ve asked the same question about Reid for many years.
