Boys Nite Out: Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada is set to host its 44th annual Boys Nite Out event on from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 15 at Lied Memorial Boys & Girls Club, 2850 Lindell Road. Entering its 44th year, Boys Nite Out presented by Capital One and Credit One, will match up several hundred boys from Boys & Girls Clubs with men from the Las Vegas community, and together, the teams will play a variety of games, enjoy a meal, meet special guests and win prizes. The evening will kick off with a performance by professional BMX riders Jordan Swenson, Breydan Anderson, TJ Ettinger and Ricardo Laguna courtesy of TXS Productions, before the duos participate in a number of competitive games. 98.5 KLUC's Chet Buchanan will serve as host for the evening. Vegas Valley Book Festival:The 2015 festival is set for Oct. 15-17 in downtown Las Vegas and at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. The largest annual literary event in Nevada, the festival brings together a wide variety of literary genres and cultural programs, with most events taking place Oct. 17 at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St. More than 120 authors and 50 events are planned, including panel discussions, keynote speakers, readings, book signings, workshops, vendor exhibits, art exhibitions, spoken word performances and other special programs for a diversity of genres, ages and cultural backgrounds. All events are free and open to the public. Keynote speakers will be Brad Meltzer, author of "The Inner Circle," "Book of Fate" and "The President's Shadow," and Colum McCann, author of six novels and two story collections and the recipient of the National Book Award for "Let the Great World Spin."
