Spirit of Liberty Jeep arrives at Chapman Chrysler Jeep

The Spirit of Liberty Crossing of America Tour stops today from 1-3 p.m. at Chapman Chrysler Jeep in the Valley Automall to honor our military's fallen heroes and their surviving families. The public is invited to come and see the Jeep Wrangler wrapped in an American-flag design that will visit 43 states and Washington, D.C., before finishing in New York City on the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11.

"It's an honor to be chosen as the Las Vegas stop for the Spirit of Liberty tour," said Gary Brewer, general manager of Chapman Chrysler Jeep. "These Jeeps have been symbols of America since 1941, and this is another way for the Chapman Automotive Group to demonstrate our ongoing support of the members and families of the military."

Joining the festivities will be Nevada servicemen and servicewomen, along with local celebrities including UFC heavyweight fighter Matt Mitrione. Food and beverages will be served.

"When I found out about this event, I knew I had to be a part of it," said Mitrione. "These troops are the true heroes and they need to be honored. The Spirit of Liberty Crossing of America event ensures that they will never be forgotten."

The tour kicked off Memorial Day weekend in San Diego on the deck of the USS Midway. Celebrities Harrison Ford, Sugar Ray Leonard and Mario Lopez are participating in this effort to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11.

Mayor Oscar Goodman has officially proclaimed June 17 as Spirit of Liberty Crossing of America Day.
