BIG GIVE TO BE DAY OF ONLINE DONATION

Nevada's Big Give is planned for Nov. 17. It's a day of online giving to benefit charities in the state. This annual initiative, launched by NevadaGIVES, with United Way of Southern Nevada as lead sponsor, is designed to bring new donors and dollars to nonprofit groups.

Every registered 501(c)(3) organization in Nevada automatically will receive donations through the website nvbiggive.org. The goal is to raise $1 million in one 24-hour period for nonprofit groups across the state by encouraging Nevadans to give where they live.

JEWISH SINGLES TO GATHER WEDNESDAY

HEALING HEROES GOLF TOURNAMENT COMING TO RED ROCK COUNTRY CLUB

Red Rock Country Club plans to host a fundraiser golf tournament to benefit the Healing Heroes Network Wednesday at its facility, 2250 Red Springs Road. Check-in is scheduled to begin at 7:15 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Individual players pay $125, and teams are $500. For more information, visit redrockgolfclassic.com.

SUIT DRIVE SET FOR FRIDAY

United Way of Southern Nevada's Women's Leadership Council plans to host its fourth annual Suit Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the NV Energy parking lot, 6226 W Sahara Ave.

The organization is collecting new and gently used women's business apparel, including suits, handbags, shoes and belts to assist those in need. Items will benefit groups such as the Shade Tree and Goodwill of Southern Nevada Career Connections. For more information, visit uwsn.org.

STAR PARTY COMING TO RED ROCK CANYON

An Astronomy in the Park Star Party is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area's Group Use area.

GOLF CEREMONY SET AT TPC SUMMERLIN

The 2011 Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony is slated for 6 p.m. Saturday at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle. Inductees are set to include Craig Barlow, a PGA Tour veteran who has tallied more than $5 million in career earnings and grew up in Las Vegas.

GRACE IN THE DESERT PLANS CRAFT SALE

Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, 2004 Spring Gate Lane, plans to host a holiday bazaar and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

FASHION SHOW AT MJ CHRISTENSEN DIAMONDS TO HELP FIGHT POVERTY

MJ Christensen Diamonds and BeadforLife plan to host the Runway For Life fashion show from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Boca Park store, 8980 W. Charleston Blvd.

The show will feature fashions by ECCOCI and jewelry hand-made with recycled paper from Uganda. Proceeds from the event will help fight poverty.

ELEMENTAL RUNNING OFFERS TRAINING PROGRAMS

Formed this spring by ultrarunners Jimmy Gabany and Carmella M. House, Elemental Running and Training announces its services for race management and consultation, timing, personal training and coaching.

The pair has created a series of road and trail races ranging from 5Ks to ultra-distances, as well as various coaching and training programs for athletes of all fitness levels and goals.

HEALTH DISTRICT ANNOUNCES HEALTH HOLIDAY CHALLENGE

The Southern Nevada Health District announces its Get Healthy Holiday Challenge, a web-based program offering a weekly challenge and tools to track progress through the holidays.

Each week a healthy challenge email will be distributed to encourage lifestyle changes, such as a daily 15-minute walk or eating three servings of vegetables a day. The program also will provide weekly tips, recipes, an interactive blog, prizes and more. The site also includes information and resources for a healthier lifestyle.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SEEKS BOX TRUCK

Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas is in need of a box truck. The one it used to pick up appliances, furniture and building materials is no longer repairable.
