TOWN ADVISORY BOARDS TO MEET

The Winchester Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Drive.

The Paradise Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Paradise Recreation and Community Services Center, 4775 McLeod Drive.

The Whitney Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Whitney Recreation Center, 5712 Missouri Ave.

The Sunrise Manor Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Hollywood Recreation and Community Services Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.

SPEEDWAY CHILDREN’S CHARITIES PLANS LAPS FOR CHARITY EVENT

The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities is scheduled to present its fourth annual Laps for Charity event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to drive their personal vehicle around the 1.5-mile superspeedway at speeds of up to 75 mph behind a pace car.

Laps for Charity is open to licensed drivers 18 or older. The entry fee is $30 per vehicle for three laps. Occupants of the car must be at least 6 or older.

WETLANDS PARK SEEKING VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are needed for a planned demonstration garden from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 8 at the Clark County Wetlands Park, 7050 Wetlands Park Lane, as part of an upcoming Wetlands Hands On! program.

The program organizes community volunteer efforts on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon to complete conservation projects. Activities include maintaining trails, cleanup efforts and other projects.

Volunteer leaders also are being sought to guide weekend nature walks in the park and family programs and serve as volunteer exhibit facilitators at the Nature Center.
