The Green Psychedelic Welfare Summit
As Sen. Harry Reid convenes his "4.0" (how clever and modern) "National Clean Energy Summit" will any reporter -- just one! -- cast a critical eye at what's going on here.
This is nothing but a federal give-away in hopes of fooling people into thinking the Obama Administration has anything that resembles a jobs plan.
Now look, I have zero problem with government experimenting with alternative energy by priming the pump to encourage development as long as it's in balance. But that's not what's going on here.
Harry Reid, President Obama and Democrats in general have latched on to "green" energy and positioning it to be some kind of jobs savior. It is not. It is an experiment for which we have yet to know whether we should move forward.
That's why today you are not going to hear anybody talk about carefully monitoring funds and funding only the best and most promising projects. Instead, everyone will be talking about how we must double-down on spending. Expand, expand, expand. Even though we know -- we know! -- that at this point all of these ideas fail the cost/benefit test.
Barring some scientific breakthrough, this the Big Lie of Sen. Harry Reid and the Obama Administration.
PS: You gotta love Vice President Joe Biden as the keynote speaker. He's such a "green" expert and all. And, isn't this the guy who told the Chinese that he "understands" their immoral one-child policy.
PPS: Palin was the "dumb" one?
PPPS: Will some reporter at this confab ask a hard questions. I get so tired of journalists who can't overcome their own laziness and biases. Somebody ask these yahoos when alt energy will produce energy cheaper than coal? Anybody?
PPPPS: if we really want to significantly reduce dependence on foreign oil, double down on coal and expand domestic oil pumping. But that's not really what's going on here, is it? I'm talkin' to you, Harry Reid.
PPPPPS: don't forget you can follow me on Twitter.com. I am @shermfrederick.
