NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR SENIOR CITIZEN OF THE YEAR

Nominations are being sought for Nevada’s Senior Citizen of the Year. Anyone 60 or older who has lived in Nevada for at least five years is eligible to be nominated.

The National Silver Haired Congress Nevada Delegation, in partnership with the Aging Services Directors Organization, established the award in 2013. Las Vegas resident Raymonde Fiol, 77, was the 2014 recipient.

The deadline for nominations is March 31. Guidelines and nomination forms are available at nevshc.org or by calling 702 860-6349. The award is to be presented in May.

AMERICAN RED CROSS PLANS BLOOD DRIVES FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH

The American Red Cross plans various blood drives throughout February in honor of Black History Month.

Drives are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Green Valley Range, 175 Cassia Way; 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Feb. 16 at 1401 S. Boulder Highway; and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 17 at at Nevada State College, 1125 Nevada State Drive.
