NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR SENIOR CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
Nominations are being sought for Nevada’s Senior Citizen of the Year. Anyone 60 or older who has lived in Nevada for at least five years is eligible to be nominated.
The National Silver Haired Congress Nevada Delegation, in partnership with the Aging Services Directors Organization, established the award in 2013. Las Vegas resident Raymonde Fiol, 77, was the 2014 recipient.
The deadline for nominations is March 31. Guidelines and nomination forms are available at nevshc.org or by calling 702-860-6349. The award is to be presented in May.
APPLICATIONS FOR CITY JUNIOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM DUE APRIL 10
The City of Henderson is set to accept applications for its Teens-N-Training junior leadership program through 6 p.m. April 10.
The program provides teens 14 and 15 with hands-on learning and training experiences designed to instill leadership, responsibility, teamwork and self-confidence. Teens are selected through an interview process and given summer assignments based on skills, interests and availability.
Participation is $110 per teen and includes training and T-shirts. Applications can be mailed or hand delivered to the City of Henderson’s Youth Enrichment Office, 280 S. Water St.

LAKE MEAD TO RECEIVE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
The Lake Mead National Recreation Area is set to receive nearly $4 million in road improvements through May 22.
Pavement preservation is planned near the park entrance station near Lake Mead Parkway to mile marker 20.6 on Northshore Road. Internal roads at the Echo Bay developed area, including the campground area, are also scheduled to be resealed.
Construction is set to occur on weekdays. Visitors may experience up to 15-minute delays.

ENTRIES SOUGHT FOR ANNUAL HERITAGE PARADE
The city of Henderson is set to accept entries for the annual Heritage Parade through March 30. The parade is planned for 10 a.m. April 18 in the Water Street District.
The theme is “The Good Old Days,” and all applicants will be judged on theme, creativity and overall appeal. The top three floats are set to receive cash prizes.
