Woman avoids ticket by choking on hot dog

Eating a hot dog in your car? Might kill you, might get you out of a ticket.

An officer followed behind a woman in Kalamazoo, Mich., last week when she drove through a red light.

Public Safety Officer Jason Gates was quick to pull her over, but when he approached her window, the routine traffic stop turned into something else completely.

According to Fox 17, Gates realized that the woman was struggling for breath and he began asking if she was alright.

He pulled the woman out of the car and began performing the Heimlich maneuver and eventually dislodged the hot dog, bun and all.

The woman immediately hugged the officer before sitting back down and hysterically crying.

The woman was not given a ticket and now the locals of Kalamazoo are calling Gates a hero.
