Chapman Chrysler Jeep in the Valley Automall has sold the first 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee in Nevada.
Possessing sophistication, performance and strength, the brand-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the look and comfort of a luxury brand with the off-roading abilities of an all-terrain vehicle. The four-door, four-wheel drive, midsize utility vehicle provides multidimensional capability and performance at a reasonable price.
Chapman's first buyer, Summerlin resident David Burge, previously owned a Lincoln Navigator and wanted a smaller SUV with better gas mileage. He and his wife needed a fuel-efficient vehicle with ample space for transporting boxes for their business and for traveling with their grandchildren and their two golden retrievers.
Upon seeing the TV commercial for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, he searched online to see where it was available in Las Vegas and was led to Chapman Chrysler Jeep, the only dealership with inventory at the time. He visited the dealership and drove home his brand-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee the same day.
"The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a completely new look," said Nick Banker, general manager of Chapman Chrysler Jeep. "The edges have all been smoothed, altering its traditional boxlike shape for a modern, sculpted silhouette that rivals that of a luxury brand."
A seven-slot grille, 18-inch wheels and available chromed mirrors and door handles add to its polished appearance. It comes in several new, elegant colors such as blackberry pearl, white gold and mineral gray metallic.
Burge likes the model's stylish design.
"I love the all-new body styling," Burge said. "It has just the right amount of chrome and it's very sharp looking."
On- and off-road, the Grand Cherokee is one of the safest vehicles around. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety named the SUV a "Top Safety Pick" for 2010. With more than 45 standard safety and security features, it has the most in its class. Electronic Stability Control automatically reduces front and rear wheel slippage, giving the best possible grip on the road and the body is now 146 percent stiffer.
Even more powerful and fuel-efficient than last year's model, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes standard with Chrysler's new 3.6-liter, Pentastar V-6 engine, good for 290 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard. A 360-horsepower, 390 pound-feet of torque HEMI V-8 is offered as an option. Fuel economy with four-wheel drive is an estimated 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. The vehicle can tow up to 7,400 pounds.
The most luxurious Jeep interior ever comes standard with hand-stitched nappa leather, real wood and modern electronics that allow for navigation, Internet connection and entertainment. Uconnect and FLO TV systems, GPS, satellite radio, hands-free calling, SIRUS Backseat TV, wireless Web access from Mopar and a port for the iPod are all available.
"The leather with black piping and the thicker steering wheel with wood accents is a really tasteful combination and everything is right at your touch," Burge said.
Banker says the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee will appeal to the adventure seeker but also those who prefer comfort and safety. "This model has something for everyone," said Banker. "The new, fully independent rear suspension allows for a smooth ride while the Selec-Terrain 'Sport' setting provides exhilaration and fun."
Owning his 2011 Jeep Cherokee for just a few days, Burge is excited to take it on its first road trip to San Diego in just a few days and looks forward to the money he will save on gas in comparison to the Navigator he previously owned.
