Allegiant Travel Co. President Levy resigns

Andrew Levy, president and chief operating officer of Allegiant Travel Co, parent company of Allegiant Air, has resigned his executive position and his seat on the company’s board of directors.

Maurice Gallagher, CEO of the Las Vegas-based company, said he and other executives on his team would take over Levy’s responsibilities until a new president is chosen.

In his 13 years at Allegiant, Levy has seen the company grow from a small company with a single plane flying between Fresno, Calif., and Las Vegas to a low-cost giant with 70 planes with 99 routes linking small cities nationwide to resort destinations.

“Andrew and I have been shoulder to shoulder at Allegiant since its earliest days,” Gallagher said in a statement. “He has been tremendously valuable in building the company to where it is today. I know I speak for many when I say he will be missed.”

Levy formerly served as the company’s chief financial officer and helped lead the company to 46 consecutive profitable quarters.

“This is a decision I considered carefully and feel confident there is tremendous momentum for the initiatives I’ve championed,” Levy said in a statement issued when the resignation was announced.

“I have no doubt Allegiant will not skip a beat due to the outstanding management team that remains intact, led by Maury. Allegiant’s future is also very bright and I feel confident I am leaving at a time when Allegiant is strong, healthy and poised for ongoing growth.”

Levy will continue to serve as an adviser to the airline in the months ahead.
