Casino MonteLago opens new sports book Sept. 1

Casino MonteLago at Lake Las Vegas on Wednesday said it plans to open its new Palio Sports Book on Sept. 1, given regulatory approval.

In a statement, the property said Gaughan South LLC, operated by South Point owner Michael Gaughan, will operate the book and that the opening is timed to coincide with the start of football season. The National Football League's season will open Sept. 8.

Intrepid Gaming in May reopened Casino MonteLago, which had been closed for 14 months.

The Nevada Gaming Commission is slated to consider approval for the sports book's license application in August.
