New chief of Gaming Control Board’s administration division selected

Sally Elloyan, a long-time employee of the state Gaming Control Board, has been named chief of the board’s administration division.

She replaces Brian Duffrin, who will retire on Oct. 1. Control Board Chairman A.G. Burnett announced the change Thursday.

Elloyan, who currently serves as executive secretary to the board and the Nevada Gaming Commission, first joined the state’s gaming regulatory body in 1988 as an agent in the Investigations Division. She also has served as the Investigations Division’s administrative supervisor and coordinator of applicant services. She held other state positions when she left the board from 2003 to 2008, including executive branch auditor for the Division of Internal Audits and as a deputy commissioner for the Division of Insurance.

Duffrin joined the Control Board in 1989 and in addition to chief, held the positions of agent, senior agent, special agent and supervisor in the Tax and License Division, supervisor in the Corporate Securities Division and executive secretary for the board and commission.

The administration division oversees human resources management, training, facilities, contracts, purchasing, accounting, payroll, budgeting and records retention. In addition to developing the agency’s biennial budgets, Elloyan will oversee its offices in Carson City, two offices in Las Vegas, Reno, Elko and Laughlin.
