Business Expo 2016 slated for Wednesday
The Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce is continuing its 20-year long commitment to giving small businesses the tools and exposure necessary to thrive.
Business Expo 2016, an annual trade show and networking conference, will be held at Cashman Center on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cara Clarke, associate vice president of communication for the Chamber, said the event offers businesses throughout the community the opportunity to showcase their latest products and services, find new customers and draw visibility to their brand.
Educational sessions are new additions to this year’s expo. One session is dedicated to getting entrepreneurs ready to pitch their business ideas, especially those interested in competing for the $5,000 grand prize of the Governor’s Conference on Business in September. Other sessions give advice on how to navigate new tax laws under the Affordable Care Act, hiring and retaining high quality employees and protecting businesses from cybercrime.
The expo also offers a space where small businesses can not only learn how to do business with the federal government, but meet with representative from agencies such as Nellis Air Force Base, Veteran Affairs and the Small Business Administration in person.
Clarke said that the U.S. government set asides about $115 billion to purchase products and services specifically from small businesses. The key to getting that money, however, is figuring out how to get your foot in the government’s door.
“Sometimes it’s very hard to make those connections on your own, but through the Chamber we are helping facilitate those connections,” Clarke said. “You can really hear from the experts what you need to do as a small business person to give you the most competitive advantage when competing for a government contract.”
The Chamber is expecting about 2,000 attendees and more than 150 exhibitors. Tickets are selling online for $10 at lvchamber.com for Chamber members and nonmembers alike. For more information call the Chamber at 702-586-3843.
