California store claims major retail space at Boca Park

California-based furniture store Living Spaces is coming to Boca Park.

The company is setting up shop inside a 140,000-square-foot building off of West Charleston and South Rampart boulevards.

Living Spaces will join the sprawling regional shopping area that includes Target, REI and Total Wine, among others.

The building, at 700 S. Rampart Blvd., has sat vacant since a Great Indoors retail store closed in 2008.

Fry’s Electronics purchased the building for about $4.7 million in 2011, but the company never moved in.

Clark County Assessor Records show that the building was sold by The Black Mailbox LLC to 700 S. Rampart Blvd., LLC for $13.5 million in August 2015.

Pamela Joy Ring, president of Ring Retail Advisory LLC, said the brick and mortar furniture space is crowded and competitive but that the company appears to be coming in to fill a niche for the “middle market consumer.”

Ring said that with furniture stores such as IKEA pricing on the lower end and with Restoration Hardware pricing on the higher end, Living Spaces fits in between.

The company also offers same-day delivery in certain stores, which could appeal to consumers.

“They try very hard to make it very easy for the consumer,” Ring said. The company did not respond to requests for comment.

An April advertisement on the career website LinkedIn.com for a management job at the Boca Park location said that the store will open in October.

The company’s career website lists at least 22 jobs in Las Vegas for retail, management and other positions.

Living Spaces was founded in 2003 and has 19 stores in Arizona and California, including the upcoming Summerlin location.
