Reid charges into the breach

Rather than playing it safe, Sen. Harry Reid is charging into the breach by scheduling Senate votes on controversial issues in the weeks ahead of Election Day, The Hill points out in a piece this morning.

"While many candidates try to duck difficult issues in the months before a tough election, Reid has decided to charge straight at them," according to the story. "Yet in doing so, Reid could be giving his Republican opponent, Sharron Angle, ammunition."

Reid announced Tuesday the Senate will take up repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that bars gays from serving openly in the military.  Also on tap is a scaled back immigration reform measure and votes on extending tax cuts to families earning less than $250,000.
