How do I know that raising a child is a burden Big Daddy government must lighten?
This I know because Nancy Pelosi tells me so.
“The child care issue probably has to be done in steps,” Pelosi told NPR host Susan Stamberg. “But when children are learning, parents can be learning. And when the children are in preschool, that frees parents to earn without carrying the burden of the child care.”
You can read all about it on Pelosi's website in this smug little piece entitled: "When Women Succeed, America Succeeds".
Just a few thoughts as you digest the Pelosi plan: New studies show kids in government day-care programs like Head Start become developmentally arrested compared to kids cared for by the family.
During President Obama's presidency the unemployment rate for women rose from 7.0% to 7.3%. And it was worse for African-American women.
May I suggest that we start thinking about getting government out of the child rearing business and, perhaps, just maybe, getting a new president who knows what the hell he is doing when it comes to the economy.
Just an idea.
