That’s usually the assertion of fans that attend a show featuring tribute artist Michael John.
John has performed the music of piano-playing rock star Billy Joel since 1998 and will take the stage again at The Club inside the Cannery at 8 p.m. July 25.
The show will feature a live band and more than 30 Joel songs. While John doesn’t necessarily consider himself an impersonator (he’s not trying to create the illusion that he is Billy Joel), he’s quite gifted in mimicking the artist’s style and sound.
So, close your eyes, kick back and listen, and it’s honestly hard to tell the difference.
Admission is $5 at the door.
