Downtown casinos, Stratosphere offer perks for new members

Several of the downtown casinos are offering premiums to new players club members. At the Golden Nugget, all new 24 Karat Club sign-ups will play a promotional slot machine to receive $5 to $1,000 in free slot play. New players club members at Fitzgeralds will receive a Fitz logo drawstring backpack after earning 50 points ($250 coin-in on slots, $500 coin-in on video poker; no point redemption required). Four Queens customers receive a free deck of cards upon sign-up and a canvas tote bag after earning 40 points ($200 coin-in on slots, $320 coin-in on video poker; no point redemption required) within 24 hours of sign-up. Across the street at Binion's, new members also receive a free deck of cards at sign-up and a T-shirt after earning 100 points ($150 coin-in on slots, $300 coin-in on video poker; no point redemption required) within 24 hours.

The Stratosphere's new member sign-up is more elaborate. New members earning 100 points ($100 coin-in on slot, $200-$800 coin-in on video poker; no point redemption required) from the time of enrollment to 11:59 p.m. the following day receive a T-shirt. Those earning 500 points receive $20 in free slot play. Earning 1,200 points gets you two free show tickets, and the truly industrious earning 2,000 points get $100 in free slot play.

Please remember that there is no charge to join any casino's player club, but you must be at least 21 years of age and have a government-issued photo ID.

PT's and Sierra Gold pubs will be sending the top Golden Reward point earner (based on play Jan. 1-18) on a tropical getaway for two to Hawaii, including a four-night stay at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki and VIP tickets to the Feb. 8 Pro Bowl in Honolulu. The winner will be announced Jan. 23.

Players earning 500 Club Coast points ($500 coin-in; no point redemption required) at The Orleans this Sunday, through Thursday will receive a long-sleeve logo T-shirt.

Arizona Charlie's Boulder is giving out two mystery gifts through Sunday. Players have to earn 200 points ($200 coin-in on slot, $400-$1,600 coin-in on video poker; no point redemption required) to receive the first gift and 500 points for the second gift. On Monday, the casino is giving out a Thomas Kinkade bill organizer to all bingo players making a minimum buy-in.

Players hitting the "Suited Blackjack of the Day" in the Excalibur's Fun Pit will win a Budweiser Mini six-pack. Please note that this only applies to the blackjack tables in the designated Fun Pit.
