Literary Las Vegas: Wes Davis

Harold Emerson Stanhope was born in 1890, the sixth child of a humble Edinburgh professor. Chasing opportunity, Harold’s father uprooted the family and took a job teaching at Princeton. The story of the fictional family’s rise over three generations in America is shared in Las Vegas author Wes Davis’ novel “The Stanhope Legacy.” Davis is also the author of “Aunt B’s Bordello and Boarding House: An Eclectic Collection of Great Recipes.”

Excerpt:

As the company grew so did the plans for Stanhope Mansion. Alta helped Harold design the floor plan. It was her idea to have a summer kitchen and to have the servant’s quarters outside the main house. Harold needed a library that could also serve as his office. He included a bank vault in the library cleverly hidden within the book shelves. No one knew about that except Harold, Alta and Susan.
