Korin Wach of Cadette Girl Scout Troop 355 earned her Silver Award, the highest a Cadette Girl Scout can earn. With the help of her mentor, Troy Stratton, she built a pamphlet holder kiosk for the Clark County Wetlands Park. The kiosk took approximately six months and more than 50 hours and was finished in late January and installed at the park Feb. 7. The kiosk has three slots for pamphlets and a feature for the park to display maps, fliers and announcements. Korin is the daughter of Kayla Wach and granddaughter of Laurel Wach of Henderson. Her mother and grandmother are her Girl Scout leaders.

Ashton Bryce Earl of Troop 717 received his Eagle Scout at the end of the year. His project involved painting over graffiti on walls adjacent to the 215 Beltway between Alta Drive and Charleston Boulevard. His parents are Bryce and Shauna of North Las Vegas.

Eduardo Martinez-Amaya of Las Vegas made the fall 2014 dean’s list at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences in Baltimore. He is the son of Sandra Amaya of Las Vegas.

Las Vegas resident Jill Whitaker is set to run in this year’s Boston Marathon on April 20 as a member of Team Stonyfield. Whitaker will be chronicling her training program for the race on her blog, jillwillrun.com, and will fundraise for Girls on the Run, a national program that inspires third- through eighth-grade girls to be healthy and confident using a running curriculum.

Diana Bennett was honored with the Eric Hilton Philanthropy Award at the Fourth Annual Philanthropy Leaders Summit Feb. 6 at Las Vegas City Hall.

Matthew Cottam of Las Vegas made the fall 2014 dean’s list at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Duran Heath and Christian Rogich, both of Las Vegas, made the 2014-15 honor roll at the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad, Calif.

Gezelle Keller of Las Vegas, a junior in mechanical engineering at the University of San Diego, participated in a service project in January to improve the lives of rural villagers in the Dominican Republic.

Air Force Airman Yesenia Medina graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. She is a 2014 graduate of Canyon Springs High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Dustin Decelles graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Decelles is the son of Keri and Alan Decelles of Burkburnett, Texas, and grandson of Joe Decelles of Las Vegas.

Logan Lucas and Kaitlin Mullen, both of Henderson; and Anna Carroll, Ralph Mendez and Alyssa Povilaitis, all of Las Vegas, made the fall 2014 dean’s list at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.

Samantha Jo Cline of Las Vegas made the fall 2014 dean’s list at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa. She is the daughter of David H. Cline and Johnna L. Mellor.

Joseph Rajchel of Las Vegas made the fall 2014 dean’s list at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Tia-marie Damman of Henderson, Adityaa Ravi, James Castle and Megan Washington, all of Las Vegas, made the fall 2014 dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y.

Jordyn Derflinger of Henderson made the fall semester Chancellors List at the University of Minnesota Crookston.

“Raiding the Rock Vault” raised $3,500 for The Cultural Arts Training Foundation at #RockAndRise, a special charity performance Feb. 13. Proceeds from the event will support the foundation’s programs that correspond to One Billion Rising, a global campaign to empower women. A check for $3,500 was presented to Lance Parvin, executive director of The Cultural Arts Training Foundation, on stage at the Tropicana Showroom at the end of the show.
