CLARK COUNTY PLANS LAND AUCTION

Clark County plans to sell approximately 190 acres of surplus Department of Aviation land during a public auction set for 1 p.m Nov. 18, during the County Commission meeting.

The Department of Aviation has identified approximately 1,500 acres of vacant land located primarily west and southwest of McCarran International Airport that is not needed for airport operations. Most is within the Cooperative Management Agreement boundary. All of the land is subject to the new permissible use restrictions updated in 2013. These use restrictions are based on the location of the specific property in relation to the current flight path noise contours.

Information about the auctions and parcels listed for sale is available at mccarran.com/doingbusiness/realestate/home/auctions.

Starting bids for the Nov. 18 auction will be based on the appraised values established for each sales unit. The appraisals are expected to be complete in October and will be posted on the website when available. Also, by the end of October, the county will include on the website details regarding how to register for the auction, minimum bid required for each sales unit, when and where to submit a written bid, and details on the oral bid process.

Proceeds from the sale are subject to the provisions of the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act and will be distributed as prescribed, with 85 percent going to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Special Account, 5 percent to the Nevada Education Fund and 10 percent to the Department of Aviation for airport development and noise mitigation.
