Sharks on the hunt at Mandalay Bay aquarium exhibit

As summer heats up in Las Vegas, take a cool break at the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

More than 2,000 animals are displayed, representing more than 100 species, including 15 species of sharks. Fourteen exhibits are devoted to the aquatic predators.

The largest exhibit is a 1.3-million gallon shipwreck where visitors experience an almost 360-degree view while walking through an acrylic tunnel. The Touch Pool is a popular attraction where guests can touch sharks, rays and horseshoe crabs.

The reef is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets, available at the box office, are $18 general admission, $12 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for children 4 and younger. Admission for Nevada residents is $15 general and $10 for children ages 5 to 12. For details, call 632-4555.
