Just a few days after a Gallup Well-Being poll listed Nevada as the No. 3 least-obese state in the country, a new poll shows Nevadans did not exercise frequently or eat tons of produce in 2013.
According to the poll, 54.5 percent of Nevadans reported that they exercise frequently and 59.2 percent reported that they eat produce frequently, which puts the Silver State in the middle of the 50 states on both.
The data was gathered from the Gallup-Healthways Well-being Index and based on interviews of 178,000 U.S. adults. All states had at least 500 respondents and 40 states had at least 1,000 respondents.
The adults that were interviewed were asked how many times they exercised for 30 minutes or more and how many days they had eaten five or more servings of vegetables four or more days a week in the previous seven days.
Vermont topped the poll for both frequent exercise and produce consumption, and came in as no. 1 for the second straight year in produce consumption.
Vermont adults reported 65.3 percent for exercising 30 minutes or more for three or more days a week and 67.8 percent reported they had eaten five or more servings of vegetables four or more days in the previous seven days.
On the low end of the poll, Delaware came in at the bottom for frequent exercise: 46.5 percent of adults said they exercised for 30 or more minutes in the past seven days. And Oklahoma was the lowest in produce consumption: 52.3 percent of adults reported eating five or more servings of vegetables four or more times during the previous seven days.
