New smartphone app shows Vegas-area walking trails

The Las Vegas Valley’s more than 600 miles of walking trails are as close to Southern Nevadans as their smartphones.

A new app to help people find paths that suit their needs and abilities may be downloaded through the Apple Store for iOS devices or from Google Play for Android, said Stephanie Bethel, spokeswoman for the Southern Nevada Health District.

The Neon to Nature website, launched in 2011, provides detailed information about each trail such as location, distance, surface type and level of difficulty. Trail maps are included.
