Piano concert planned at Winchester center

Winchester Community Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, will present a concert by pianist Eugene Albulescu at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8.
Tickets are $7 general admission and $5 for seniors and students under age 12. For further details, call 455-7340.
One of the youngest pianists to win the prestigious Grand Prix du Disque Liszt, Albulescu has performed and recorded on four continents. He is a founding member of the acclaimed Turnovsky Trio, and currently teaches at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.
Born in Romania in 1970, Albulescu attended the George Enescu Music School in Bucharest, and at age 12 won first prize in the Golden Lyre, Romania's national music competition.
In 1984, he and his family emigrated to New Zealand, where his concert debut came at age 15. At 16, he was the youngest competitor and winner of Television New Zealand's Young Musicians Competition.
Albulescu has championed music education in public schools and has presented "Inside the Piano with Eugene Albulescu" at numerous American high schools.
