Gaming lobbying group selects Lanni

Executive to head American Gaming Association

GAMING WIRE

Terry Lanni
MGM Mirage executive named chairman of American Gaming Association

Members of the American Gaming Association, the industry's primary Washington, D.C., based lobbying arm, elected MGM Mirage Chairman Terry Lanni as the organization's chairman.

Lanni succeeds retiring Harrah's Entertainment Chairman Phil Satre and will serve a two-year term. Lanni was first elected to the association's board in 1996.

Boyd Gaming Corp. Chairman William Boyd was re-elected as the association's vice chairman.

"It is important for the casino industry to have a strong voice in Washington," Lanni said. "On (Capitol) Hill, we expect Internet gambling and sports betting to be considered again. I'm sure there will be security and tax issues as well. "

Several other current board members were re-elected to new terms, while new faces will join the organization's board of directors.

Station Casinos President Lorenzo Fertitta, Alliance Gaming Corp. Chief Executive Officer Richard Haddrill and Harrah's Entertainment President Gary Loveman were elected as new board members.

Re-elected to new board terms were Caesars Entertainment President Wally Barr, WMS Gaming Industries President Brian Gamache, Progressive Gaming International Corp. President Russel McMeekin and Wynn Resorts Ltd. Chairman Steve Wynn.

Penn National Gaming Chairman Peter Carlino was elected to fill an at-large seat on the board. Bank of America Managing Director William Newby and Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada Senior Managing Director Larry Ruvo were re-elected to at-large seats.
