NORM: Lots of 'Love' fans walking red carpet

David Blaine gets DJ started on his record-setting way.

Headed by Beatles royalty, the red carpet will be a long and winding road at Friday's gala opening of "Love" at The Mirage.

The celebrity list was nearing 80 on Wednesday, with the addition of Prince and Woody Harrelson for the VIP opening of the Cirque du Soleil show featuring music of The Beatles.

The cavalcade begins at 5:30 p.m.

Surviving Beatles Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will be joined by the wives of the late Beatles John Lennon (Yoko Ono) and George Harrison (Olivia Harrison).

Also attending from the Beatles family: music director Sir George Martin and his son, Giles Martin, who co-directs the show's music with his father; Lennon's sons, Julian and Sean Ono Lennon; Harrison's son Dhani; and Cynthia Lennon, John's first wife.

An appearance by Siegfried & Roy will be Roy's first return to the same theater where he was seriously injured by a show tiger on Oct. 3, 2003.

Also on hand: Billy Crystal, Tony Bennett, Eric Idle (Monty Python), Megan Mullally, Eddie Murphy, Busta Rhymes, Virginia Madsen, John Densmore (The Doors), Michael Richards ("Seinfeld"), Beach Boy Brian Wilson, Dylan McDermott, Gina Gershon, Dita Von Teese and Shannon Elizabeth.

The list goes on: Deborah Harry (Blondie), Roberta Flack, Elizabeth Berkley ("Showgirls"), Kevin Nealon, Wayne Brady, Paul Reiser and Carrot Top.

Poker stars Chris Ferguson and Annie Duke will be mingling with Steve Van Zandt, Jeff Lynne (ELO), Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and David Foster.

In theater parlance, this space will be dark for three weeks. We're leaving today on a 19-day trip, with stops in London, Paris, the French Riviera and Florence.

A truce has been called in the heated nightclub war between local giants Pure and Tao.

"We've made peace," said Rich Wolf, one of the owners of New York-based Tao, which opened at The Venetian last September. Wolf and business partner Jason Strauss met with Pure Management Group's Robert Frey and Steve Davidovici last week.

"It's like a 'Godfather' movie," Wolf said. "It's bad business to be at war and good business to be friends." ...

The Beatles' biggest local fan? Dennis Mitchell, host of "Breakfast With the Beatles" on KKLZ-FM, 96.3, will reach his 800th show in late fall. He's heard on 28 stations in the United States and Canada and can be heard online as well at www.beatlesradioshow.com. ...

Gwen Stefani's hubbie, Gavin Rossdale of Bush, and Brandon Boyd of Incubus have confirmed they are playing with Camp Freddy at Saturday's re-opening of the Palms pool after a $40 million renovation.

SIGHTINGS

Julian Lennon, spotted with friends on the Palms' ghostbar observatory deck late Tuesday. ... Peta Wilson, co-star of "Superman Returns," at Pure (Caesars Palace) on Tuesday. ... Illusionist David Blaine, starting the clock on Wednesday for DJ Robert Oleysyck's Guinness World Records' bid for the longest DJ set, at the Palms marquee. Oleysyck hopes to spin for 84 consecutive hours, part of 944 magazine's one-year anniversary. The final-hour countdown starts at 9 p.m. Saturday.
