Sword-wielding Texan demands free tacos
A Texas man is behind bars for demanding free tacos at a Mexican restaurant in exchange for not killing anyone with a sword he had in a sheath on his waist.
Adam Kramer, 28, ordered six tacos on Dec. 2 at Alondras De Jalisco in San Antonio. When told how much he owed, he said he would be getting the tacos for free, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The waitress told Kramer he would have to pay for the food, at which point he allegedly started to slide a “large sword” in and out of the sheath on his waist.
Kramer’s cellphone rang at one point, interrupting the conversation, the waitress told KSAT. She said Kramer walked outside to take the call and she locked the door.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated Kramer could be heard yelling outside that “someone would die” if he didn’t get his free tacos.
Kramer stopped at a gas station after leaving the restaurant and demanded $50 in free gas, according to KVUE. When the clerk refused, he allegedly put his hand on a weapon before changing his mind and paying for $20 worth of gas.
Kramer left the gas station but was arrested the next day on a separate charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He then was charged with aggravated robbery and attempted robbery, according to the Chronicle.
This wasn’t the only assault charge stemming from an incident at a restaurant this month.
A Mesa, Ariz., couple has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct after they didn’t receive hash browns with their meal at McDonald’s.
Michael and Nova Smith said restaurant employees refused to provide the hash browns or a refund, leading Nova Smith to throw her food at the employees and her husband to call 911.
“I just was barely able to hold myself back,” Michael Smith told ABC 15. “And if not for the 911 call operator calling me back, I probably would have went berserk on him.”
McDonald’s managers said the assault charge came because when the bag of food was thrown, it hit an employee in the arm.
