Rain continuing in Las Vegas Valley, but sun is on the way

It might be wet today, but sunshine is on the horizon for the Las Vegas Valley for the weekend.

Scattered showers and a chance of thunderstorms are expected Wednesday, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Ryan Metzger.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain continuing on Tuesday, with some light rain sprinkling the valley through the morning, and a 40 percent chance of rain Wednesday with a high temperature of 87.

Thursday and Friday should start to warm up and dry out, with temperatures jumping from 92 to 95 and rising to 98 and 100 on Saturday and Sunday, Metzger said.

Rain has been falling almost every day since September began, and the total rainfall recorded at McCarran International Airport since Jan.1 is 1.27 inches, although parts of the valley have seen a lot more rain than that, Metzger said.
