This week’s 5 best bets for what to watch
June 30, 2016 - 6:00 pm
‘Casino’
Revisit the Riviera’s glory days — or at least the days when it was still standing — with “Casino” (Friday, Amazon). The Riv stood in for the fictional Tangiers, which was run by Robert De Niro’s Sam “Ace” Rothstein.
‘Wahlburgers’
Still waiting for a certain Boston-based burger joint to open at the Grand Bazaar Shops in front of Bally’s? Whet your appetite with the season premiere of “Wahlburgers” (10 p.m. Wednesday, A&E).
‘The Big Short’
“The Big Short” (Wednesday, Netflix) would have been the first best picture winner to have filmed in Las Vegas since “Rain Man” in 1989. It lost. But the story of the housing market collapse is nearly as informative as it is entertaining.
‘The Sting’
“The Sting” (Friday, Netflix), however, cleaned up at the 1974 Academy Awards, winning seven Oscars, including best picture and best director, for the story of grifters played by Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
‘Star Trek’ movies
Get your geek on Friday when Hulu and Amazon add “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” and the sequels “The Wrath of Khan,” “The Search for Spock,” “The Final Frontier,” “The Undiscovered Country” and “Insurrection.”
